The rad-ID is an advanced handheld radiation identifier, a radiation
laboratory in a box that is easy to use with almost no training. Identifying a radiation source requires pressing a single button. Simply that.
The rad-ID identifies the radioactive material found by the Mini rad-D or rad-D, whether that material is a medical isotope, industrial isotope, or special nuclear material. Four different radiation detectors work simultaneously. Advanced signal processing electronics combine the data to identify the source. That’s why the rad-ID can identify over 110 isotopes at the touch of one button. Competing products use one or two detectors, and identify far fewer isotopes. Some claim to identify dozens of isotopes, but use gimmicks, requiring public safety personnel to guess the category of the unknown isotope (such as medical, industrial, or special.) Just press the rad-ID’s single button and the four detectors will gather enough information for a unique identification.
In addition to identification, the rad-ID is an advanced radiation detector, allowing public safety personnel to sweep large numbers of people, packages, or vehicles to quickly locate radiation.
The rad-ID has a built in Bluetooth wireless data link, allowing radiation measurements to be sent to a PC from up to 300 feet away. From the PC, the information can quickly be emailed anywhere in the country.
The rad-ID is rugged and can be used in all weather conditions, enduring rigorous decontamination procedures. The rad-ID stores radiation
measurements in memory that can be sent to a computer at a later time. Even with no power, the rad-ID will retain the prior measurements.
The rad-ID operates on 3 off-the-shelf D-cell batteries, available anywhere. No charger and no special power supply means the rad-ID is ready when you are!
