D-tect™ Introduces New Chemical Detector Device
ANOKA, Minn. – July 05, 2006 – D-tect introduces the latest technology in hazardous chemical identification, the chem-ID™. It offers public safety personnel and federal agencies a highly accurate and reliable field tool to quickly identify over 100 toxic industrial chemicals and chemical warfare agents, as well as perform a detailed chemical analysis on any chemical sampled.
"The chem-ID allows high-precision chemical analysis to be performed in the field that has been previously attainable only by sending chemical samples to large laboratories for analysis by trained analytical chemists, using extremely expensive equipment," said Mark Kaspersen, Project Engineer of the development team. This mobile devices’ ability to detect and analyze samples in the field eliminates problems and delays associated with conventional collecting, shipping, storage and processing of samples of unknown agents.
Easy and intuitive to use, the chem-ID allows high-resolution measurements of chemical samples to be performed by personnel without a chemistry background. Chemical measurements can be quickly emailed to a qualified analytical chemist for analysis anywhere in the world.
Hazardous material spills, waste site audits, and meth lab evidence recording are just some of the examples where this powerful tool can be used to speed up field chemical analysis by allowing it to be completed in the field, not just collected for transport to wait in line for analysis at a laboratory.
"The chem-ID will give officials the power to identify potentially hazardous chemicals and unseen vapors efficiently and immediately," Business Development Director for DOD/DHS, Jeff Janey said. "We are excited to launch this vital tool for protecting our nation from chemical warfare threats."
